The Allen-Bradley 2198-D012-ERS3 is a Kinetix 5700 dual-axis servo drive. It incorporates the drive with a hardwired and integrated safety feature that has a safe torque-off (STO) function and SIL CL3 and PLe safety ratings. It also provides support for Hiperface and DSL encoder feedback. Its Dual Ethernet ports provide support for both linear and device level ring (DLR) topologies. It uses single-wire and tuning-less commissioning, simplifying installation and saving space.

The 2198-D012-ERS3 drive has a module width of 55mm. It has dimensions of 9.92 x 2.17 x 14.09 in. and weighs 9.17 lbs. It has a continuous and peak output current of 5A and 12.5A at RMS (root mean square) values and 7A and 17.6A at 0-peak values respectively. Continuous power output at 324 - 528V RMS, three-phase is 3.4 kW. It has a PWM frequency of 4 kHz and internal capacitance of 165 ?F.

The 2198-D012-ERS3 servo drive has a simple, powerful, and compact design for machines requiring large axis counts and higher power. The drive has an integrated motion and safety feature via the EtherNet/IP network facilitating its use in large machines. With its high-performance motor control and less integration time, it finds application in various industries such as beverages, diaper machines, bag machines, tire building machines, tray loaders, etc.

The 2198-D012-ERS3 is designed for max. velocity loop frequency of 400 Hz, Current loop frequency of 1000 Hz while the module’s Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) frequency of 4 kHz. This module has a physical measurement of 9.92 x 2.17 x 14.09 inches or 252 x 55 x 358 mm while it weighs 9.17 lbs or 4.16 kg.

Being part of the Kinetix 5700 Ethernet I/P servo system, it supports integrated motion over Ethernet I/P and provided with a dual Ethernet communication port for interfacing with liner, star and ring topologies. These embedded communication interface may be used with Allen-Bradley’s Stratix ethernet or 3rd party switches. Additionally, the Kinetix 5700 supports Safe Torque-Off (STO) feature as the device’ integrated safety and Advanced tuning. With the use of the 2198-D012-ERS3 dual axis inverter, commissioning and tuning time is reduced, and unknown mechanics is compensated.
